  • State coordinator clinical research study- Healthcare worker influenza study. Coordinating staff, budget, attending investigator meetings, completing auditing, documentation/reports, facilitating interdisciplinary teams, coordination of collection clinical samples, storage and transport of study samples. Adhering to local and state governance and human resources and research ethics committee. Effectively coordinating of one of CHQs largest participant studies, with over 250 participants with various requirements and time point sample collections.
  • State coordinator for CMV register. Collection of data and clinical assessments of children with CMV, regular follow up interview and assessments with children and families. Completing regular site meetings and lead investigator meetings. Assistance in roll out of electronic data collection for children and families.
  • PAEDs Surveillance. Paediatric Advanced Enhanced Disease Surveillance, surveillance and understanding of various diseases/presentations admitted to the hospital, reviewing patients and interviewing families, reporting to lead site and WHO as required. Collection of samples and data as required per protocol and follow up with treating teams.
  • Clinical research nurse for COVID Rasp trial. collection of study samples, storage and data collection. coordination and liaising with study participants per study protocol.

  • Served as a preceptor for nursing students during their clinical rotations, providing valuable real-world experience and guidance to foster professional growth. Educate and orientate, graduate nurses and student nurses who spend time in our emergency department. I take the time to assess skills, and work to improve their practice and aide in learning.
  • Precepting new staff. Educating of flow of the emergency department, through the use of clinical assessment, research and judgment to deliver safest possible care to patients. Education of procedures and completion per department and hospital policy. Assess and sign off staff on different competencies, like procedural sedation, cannulation, PORT access, Quantaflex (continuous nitros sedation).
  • Team leading a resus' and the resus team. Coordinate staff during high pressure situations to ensure best patient outcomes. Anticipation of potential obstacles that may arise with presentations and prepare solutions. Aware of potential research projects and coordination of these during the resus. Plan and coordinate with bed manager on disposition of patients.
  • Coordination of triage and triage nurses. Make plans for surges in presentations and where to safely place patients and families pre entering the department. Coordinate triage nurses and effectively 'run' the triage line (rapid assessment of children waiting to be triaged). Ability to assess and triage patients accordingly and safely as per the ETEK guidelines.
  • Work as a the CIN (Clinical Initiatives Nurse), ‘RAT' (rapid assessment) patients in the waiting room, further use of clinical assessment and commence appropriate treatment whilst waiting to be seen by the medical team and a bed in the department.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans for complex patients with multiple comorbidities.
  • Competently able to care for patients of all presentations – Intubated + Ventilated, multi-trauma, minor incidents etc. Comprehensibly complete minor invasive procedures procedures such as PIVC insertion, NGT placement, catheterisation (male and female), BPAP, PORT access, mechanical sedation, skin traction and all other procedures to present through emergency department
  • Ensure flow maintains through the department and effectively communicate and problem solve with patients/families, doctors, nurses and other allied health to deliver best care, and escalate/de-escalate questions or concerns when necessary.
