Meeka’s flagship Murchison Gold Project hosts a large high-grade 1.2Moz @ 3g/t Au Mineral Resource on granted Mining Leases. The Murchison Gold Project Definitive Feasibility Study released in December 2024 was based on restarting the fully permitted Andy Well mill. The Study outlined a 10-year production plan up to 76koz pa (averaging 65koz pa for first 7 years), undiscounted pre-tax free cash flow of $1B, NPV8% of $616M and IRR of 180%. Mining is underway, the plant has been commissioned and is ramping up production. First gold was poured at the start of July 2025.

Fortescue Metals group are one of the major Iron ore producers in the world. I worked as a Mine Geologist at the Christmas Creek Operation which is the largest Iron Ore mine in Australia. Christmas Creek is composed of flat-lying ore deposits. They include iron, silica, aluminium and phosphorous minerals. Both conventional mining and surface mining techniques are used at Christmas Creek. Surface mining is unique to Fortescue operations and is well suited to these flat-lying ore formations. My role was to maintain a high standard of QA/QC and maximise ore tonnage in production through careful analysis of the Block Model for my designated mining pit. Liaison with Earth Moving Contractor company personnel as well as other technical departments within Fortescue was an integral part of this role.
Nydinghu is one of Fortescues largest Iron Ore Deposits, comprising of over 2 billion tonnes of high grade Fe ore. My role at Nydinghu was logging on an RC drill rig and data management of the logged data into an Access database. I was also interested in developing my 3D visualisation skills of the various structures within the deposit by carrying around printed Cross Sections of previously drilled holes. This enabled a better understanding of the underlying stratigraphy and mineralization trends. Also, since a large volume of groundwater could pose potential problems for future mining strategies, the geologists were undertaking groundwater measurements and storing this data for future analysis.
The raw materials for Tronoxs’ titanium minerals business come from ancient shoreline deposits in the Lancelin to Gingin area, approximately 170 kilometers north of Perth. Grains of valuable heavy minerals were deposited on ancient shorelines thousands of years ago, where the action of waves and wind formed ‘belts’ of minerals called strand lines. The heavy mineral component within the deposited sands in then extracted to produce zircon, rutile and leucoxene.
