  • Having only previously worked in regional clinics, this inner city clinic enabled me to develop my professional skill working with a broad age range of adults and children with a variety of musculoskeletal complaints and health concerns
  • Working here I have received consistent osteopathic mentorship from Renae Lutton, a Newcastle-based osteopath with over 15 years of clinical experience

  • This kids clinic gives newer graduate osteopaths a regular opportunity to develop their professional skills with regards to paediatric musculoskeletal-related patient management, including presentations such as orthopaedic developmental concerns, infant latching, tongue-tie and birth strains

  • The skills required for this role included physical and communication assistance with daily living and personal needs for an individual who is non-verbal and unable to walk without a high level of assistance

  • Time management and task efficiency in juggling the needs of both the client and his siblings and their various activities

  • This role required skills in manual movement of clients, including mechanical hoisting from wheelchair to shower chair and bed, assisted personal care, including showering, feeding, providing medication, usage and maintenance of ventilators and other assisted breathing and mobility technologies, and responding appropriately to difficult and complex behaviours from clients
