Fitter
I left school in 2009 and started my career as an auto electrician apprentice. I then went on to completing my mechanic apprenticeship. I worked my way up to my own business, Flavel Mechanical, which was a very successful workshop. As a kid, I always wanted to work in the mines. I decided that if I don't do it, I never will. I started in the LV Bay at the Carrapateena mine site as a contractor. Later, I signed over to Downer Mining at Carrapateena, and I would later sign over to Byrnecut. As the years went on, I found myself moving over to the HV workshop, problem-solving, servicing machines, addressing electrical faults, and performing large component changeouts, as well as years of underground breakdown fitting, then on to filling in as leading hand on various crews, working with others, problem-solving, managing the workload, and organizing the workshop and underground parts and faults.
