Today my current position with Boyne Smelters Limited is as an Electrician with the Infrastructure and Reduction Services Maintenance Team. In this role I work to support the general site and infrastructure requirements and reduction services maintenance requirements of BSL. This role also requires me to liaise with other maintenance teams across site to ensure the effective functioning of the site building a great business network of Production, Maintenance, contractors, and Leadership across site.
I started my career at BSL in 2001 in production as a process technician for the Rodding rooms as a process technician, building on my skill set and promoted to controller and then some years later successfully moving up to a position as a carbon production Crew Leader.
A few years later the opportunity arose to build on my skillset and take on my position that I am in today, I took on the new challenge of electrical apprentice and after completion of the apprenticeship, I joined the maintenance teams of BSL. I have since completed a second trade as an Air-conditioning and Refrigeration mechanic and Completed my Certificate 3 in Instrumentation.
Although I am currently employed as an electrician, I always focus to ensure that use all my strengths and to ensure I maintain all my work skills, from leading maintenance teams to maintaining equipment, or sitting in with the maintenance planers all to ensure we are set up for successfully safe team.
As an electrician, i have been working with the infrastructure maintenance and production maintenance teams.
I have carried out general building and site services maintenance, lighting plant, utilities, air conditioning for both building and process equipment, and aluminium plant maintenance repairs, services and faultfinding.
outside the electrical maintenance tasks, i have also been worked closely with leadership, working and a 2IC to my direct leader. I have been completed leadership secondments and completed maintenance planner secondment.
I have successfully led my team during some of our most critical and high risk projects, form working with cranes, Contractors, elevated work platforms, reduction line processes, and extreme temperatures.
