During my time as a Store Supervisor at Petbarn, I have had many different experiences that have expanded my knowledge and pushed me to be an excellent and adaptable worker within the environment. The Petbarn I work at not only has a dog grooming salon, but we are also trained to adopt out kittens for the RSPCA.
I have had extensive experience in our grooming salon, helping to bath, brush, and dry dogs, as well as helping to provide safe, calm, and clean environments for them to be housed in while they are with us. I also help our groomer to book appointments, cancel appointments, and re-arrange appointments; as well as dealing with customer complaints appropriately and providing satisfactory outcomes that align with our company policies. I have had to handle dogs of all sizes, with varying behavioural temperaments - and am very comfortable doing so.
I have also had extensive experience with housing, maintaining and adopting out kittens for the RSPCA. By following strict policies and guidelines on cleanliness, with disease prevention always in mind - I make sure that the kittens have safe, clean, and comfortable environments where they are supervised at all times. Medicating these kittens, feeding them and monitoring them for any signs of illness or behavioural issues are also very routine for me. If anything ever seems to be wrong, we are in direct contact with the vet at the RSPCA instantly to discuss the best next move. When adopting out the kittens, there is an interview process during which we talk about appropriate care for these kittens, as well as a screening process with their potential new owners, making sure that they have the right home environment, appropriate facilities, and tick every box before they are considered for adoption.
I have also owned cats my whole life. My parents adopted our first family cat when I was an infant, and I have had cats in my life ever since, with my oldest (Tabbitha) being 18 years old. Tabbitha has been diagnosed with congenital heart failure and early stage renal issues, that have lead her to be medicated for the past 4 years of her life. As well as taking her to the vet frequently for routine blood tests and check-ups, I have medicated her by myself up to 3 times a day, for this period of time. I have also had to go through the unfortunate passing of multiple of my cats due to various cancers or illnesses as well. Each one having their own individual care plans, medications, and eventually home euthanasia provided to them. I always have their care and best interests in mind. Due to my extensive professional knowledge, as well as my long term personal knowledge and deep compassion for cats - I feel as though I am a fantastic fit for your cattery team.
