Duties: As a member of the CMTEDD Strategic Communications Team support the work of the Occupational Violence (OV) campaign and the Workforce Attraction campaign.


In 2023, transition the CMTEDD Loop newsletter to a new format and work on implementing the Internal CMTEDD Communications Strategy.


Continue to work on writing, implementing and evaluating CMTEDD Communication on a Page projects such as FlexiSpaces and new ACTPS Safety Portal.


Prepare a wide range of communications materials for different audiences including communication plans, media releases, social media, infocards, Whole of Government messages, website content, Access Canberra Contact Centre scripts, Access Canberra Service Centre TV screen posts, print and radio advertising.

Sample of achievements

  • Audited and made recommendations to improve the user experience of the ACT Motor Accident Insurance Commission website and also the Gambling Racing Commission website.
  • Consolidated web content and designed a landing page for the Environment Protection Authority’s new portal ready for the CMTEDD Web Team to implement after COVID priorities ease.
  • Implemented the SMS Renewal Reminders for Driver Licences Communication Plan.
  • Implemented the Choosing a Tradie Communication Plan which included advertising.
  • Drafted media releases for the Report on Government Services.
  • Implemented a Parking Safely Around Schools initiative that included advertisements on FM 106.3 and FM 106.7, media release, facebook posts for schools to send out to parents, social media post from the ACT Government account, Access Canberra Contact Centre in queue messaging, Access Canberra Service Centre TV screen slide, an article in Our Canberra digital format, and a Whole of Government Message.
  • Wrote and implemented the 'Think Sustainability this Festive Season' Communications Plan. As part of this plan, Canberrans were provided with tips on their consumer rights and on consuming thoughtfully over the Christmas period. These tips were printed on parsley seeded paper which Canberrans could then plant in soil. This infocard was well received by the public at community events such as the EPIC markets. Other communication tools used included 12 Days Before Christmas social media web tiles, Whole of Government Message, ACT Government desktop screensaver, Access Canberra Service Centre TV screen slide and Access Canberra Contact Centre in queue message.
  • Partnered with the Conflict Resolution Service in empowering ACT residents to have a conversation with their neighbour about noise before ringing Access Canberra to make a complaint. Wrote the ‘How to talk to your neighbour about noise’ communication plan which involved the creation of five different infocards (these were distributed to suburbs with the highest number of noise complaints), a brochure, social media post, Access Canberra Contact Centre in queue message, revamping letters to complainants, a party smart form, an ACT Government desktop screensaver, Whole of Government Message, Access Canberra Service Centre TV screen slide, and the creation of a noise portal.

  • As the JACS Business Continuity Advisor I assisted business units with the testing and updating of their business continuity plans.
  • Managed the directorate’s 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 special projects to ensure money allocated to each project was spent within the financial year in accordance with each project’s purpose.
  • Provided secretariat support to the Special Projects Steering Committee.
  • Conducted and finalised two internal credit card audits and a recruitment audit.
  • As a JACS Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group Member and Governance RAP Ambassador provided secretariat functions to the JACS RAP Working Group.
  • My commitment to the integration of workplace respect, equity and diversity work practices was acknowledged in 2013 when as a member of the JACS Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group I was recognised in the JACS Director-General Awards in the Respect, Equity and Diversity category for successfully developing and delivering the Directorate’s first Reconciliation Action Plan and then again in 2014 for promoting reconciliation within the Directorate.
  • Coordinated two JACS Evaluation Roundtables.
  • Coordinated some of the more complex whole of directorate responses such as JACS input into mental health strategy.
