Tenancy Officer

1. Assist tenants to sustain their tenancies by managing all aspects of tenancy services, including:

  • Preparing tenancy agreements and assisting clients in the process of establishing a new tenancy, including understanding their obligations and rights
  • Field work, including home visits and property inspections
  • Rental account management
  • Lease management.

2. Ensure tenants are aware of their contractual responsibilities regarding the

  • Take appropriate action where tenants fail to meet their contractual and/or community responsibilities.
  • Provide appropriate information to clients to facilitate:
  • Access to appropriate housing and/or other services
  • Follow-up support organisation engagement with clients.

5. Manage interactions with service providers, including:

  • Coordinating client/service provider interactions in managing the tenancy engaging emergency services when required.

6. Research a broad range of issues and provide advice, information and recommendations to team leaders and managers to contribute to the effective management of tenancies.

7. Maintain Housing records and information systems as they relate to tenancies, ensuring that information is recorded in an accurate and timely manner.

8. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable people you may be working with (including children and young people) and immediately report any concerns, disclosures, allegations or suspicions of harm. Actively participate in and contribute to practices that will ensure Communities Tasmania is a child safe organisation including reporting, record keeping and information sharing obligations.

9. Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation's Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and related training, ensuring that quality and safety improvement processes are in place and acted upon.

Other Duties and Achievements

  • 2021 became a member of the Tenancy Administration Team (TAT), where I am required to specialise in processing of Household Income Statements 9HIS), Income Confirmation, preparing recommendations, Shortlisting applicants & allocating properties, Organizing Aboriginal Tenancy Allocation Panel (ATAP) committee meetings, typing up agendas and taking minutes, allocating aboriginal properties. arranging payments for committee members who attended, liaising with the Aboriginal Health Centre.
  • Prior to 2021 worked in several Division through the organisation which has enabled me to develop and maintain my skills in all aspects of tenancy management which includes but is not limited to the following :
  • Over the years the due to my extensive working knowledge of Homes Tasmania and excellent communication skills have been responsible for Training staff, assisting them with queries, providing advice and information, quality assurance , reviewing policies and providing feedback.
