My education was tailored to prepare me for office work. Typing, book-keeping etc.. which provided a decent income for the first part of my work career. My work locations varied tremendously among different industries. During the later part of my work career I was channelled through to the Sales area, which I enjoyed and excelled at. I was made redundant from FujiXerox in 2013, and chose not to look for work at that time. I literally started part time work at 12, (underaged) for Coles Variety Shop (as known back then) and always shared my worktime between full time work and 2nd jobs to earn more money. We have now moved to Cairns Queensland, to retire, and look forward to doing some casual work. .
I am computer literature, so spend a lot of time of the computer. Gardening is only something I could do after semi-retiring in Adelaide, and had a very large garden of vegetables, flowers and bulbs. I really enjoyed it, and only time will tell whether I will be able to develop a similar garden here in Cairns.
We have two Grandchildren who live son in Trinity Beach, and this is the main reason we have decided to move location at this time in our lives. I think Children keep older Australians young.
My taste in reading is broad, from fiction to geography and history. It has been a joy to have the time to extend my interest in these areas since 'empty nest'.
I'm a happily married of 43 years this year. Mothered 3 Sons, which are now independent with their own families. One family is in WA, one in Adelaide, and one here in Cairns.
I like to work and keep busy. It was joyful to have time to enjoy life after my Xerox employment of 15 years. I volunteered for over 20 years on weekends at our local amateur football Club in Adelaide, doing a variety of tasks. Bookwork, and Canteen duty on Saturdays and Sundays. I am now at a stage where I would like some casual work, not only to help with the bank account, but to help assimilate further in my new home of Smithfield.
