Anaesthetics

  • Assisted in the intubation process by holding the mask in place for oxygenation, connecting the laryngeal mask airway (LMA) to the ventilator, and securing it in position with tape.
  • Prepared anaesthetic face masks & LMAs catered to the patients' anatomy
  • Prepared patients for surgery by conducting a third perioperative checklist and donning a bispectral index sensor, blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter probe, as well as applying and attaching electrocardiogram leads.
  • Scrub & Scout
  • Documented the count of all accountable items, together with the scrub nurse, as per ACORN standards.
  • Memorised instruments to ensure accurate handover of instruments to the surgeon during surgery.
  • Prepared surgical setup immediately prior to commencement of procedure.

  • Conducted a comprehensive patient evaluation and physical exams, including dermatome assessment, neurological assessment, and neurovascular assessment. Additionally, performed and documented observations every 10 minutes (while the patient was sedated), assessed cannulas, surgical incisions, and wound sites for indications of infection
  • Received patient handovers from OT, ensuring proper connection of the LMA to wall oxygen, and later removed the LMA once patients woke up while maintaining their airway.
