CLINICAL PLACEMENTS:

Renal Dialysis Unit | Sunshine Coast University Hospital | July 2024 (4 Weeks)

  • Worked independently as an active member of the renal dialysis team in providing comprehensive care for chronic and acute dialysis patients within the scope of practice.
  • Conducted comprehensive Arteriovenous Fistula assessments and fluid assessments for dialysis patients and completing appropriate documentation.
  • Developed confidence in safe preparation and administration of Intravenous Iron Polymaltose and erythropoietin stimulating agents (ESA) as per the protocol and under the direct supervision of RN.
  • Involved in administering packed Red Blood Cells products to the dialysis patient and conducted required nursing assessments and documentation before and after the administration as per the protocol.
  • Maintained appropriate and timely documentation of Vital signs observation, calculating QADDs score, Haemodialysis parameters during dialysis and escalating the abnormalities to team leader.
