I’m a proud Nunga woman from South Australia, living in Naarm since the age of 12, with a strong passion for working with and supporting mob. In my current role as Boarding Coordinator at the Melbourne Indigenous Transition School, I support students through their schooling journey, providing an environment that is emotionally and culturally safe. I have experience working in fast-paced environments and handle work-related challenges with ease. Alongside this, running my own business and providing administrative support for other organisations has strengthened my ability to quickly adapt to new systems and routines, and to work effectively across a range of environments.
In this role, I work closely with Aboriginal students, building strong and culturally safe relationships based on trust and understanding. I ensure the environment is safe and supportive for my students, while keeping open communication with supervisors and wellbeing coordinators to meet the safety and wellbeing needs of all students. I support young people from a range of complex family backgrounds, using a trauma-informed approach to make sure they feel understood and cared for. I also check in regularly with students and families about their wellbeing and safety, helping to support their social and emotional needs throughout the school term.
I run my own freelance business and have over five years’ experience, mostly working with mob and community projects. Running my business means I handle budgeting, travel, and social media to keep things organised and running smoothly. I’ve been lucky to work on some amazing projects, including Melbourne Fashion Week, Baker Boy’s music videos (makeup), the Champion campaign with Aretha Brown, and makeup for SBS. It’s given me the chance to use my creative skills, build strong connections in both community and industry.
During my contract with Garuwa, a First Nations storytelling agency, I supported the team with admin tasks and managed communication both online and in person with staff and external stakeholders. I helped with tech support when needed.
