- Preoperative care- Which would include assessing patient health status, completing pre-procedure checklist with patient
- Educating patients and families
- Assess and report patient condition pre and post procedure to appropriate medical staff
- Ensure all paperwork's like consent, RFA and the anesthetic charts are all properly documented.
- Clinical handover to the anesthetic nurse pre procedure.
- Preparing, administering and recording prescribed medications.
- Evaluating medical information, as well as providing direct and individualised nursing care to pre and post surgery patients.
- Changing dressings and administering intravenous fluids/medications.
- Monitoring patient condition post procedure and getting them ready for discharge
- Collaborating on discharge planning with the healthcare team including allied health.
- Educating on wound dressings, medications and other discharge instructions.
- Monitoring patients recovery, manage post operative pain, prevent complications, wound management
- Following routine post anaesthetic Observations according to patients condition and procedure
