Summary

As a motivated and adaptable Exercise Scientist with hands-on experience in both strength and conditioning and rehabilitation, I’ve had the privilege of working with athletes across various levels. My time at Box Hill Senior Secondary College allowed me to develop tailored programs for youth basketball athletes, where I applied data-driven methods, like velocity-based training (VBT) to enhance performance. In addition, my experience at Kieser deepened my understanding of rehabilitation, where I learned to adapt training methods to individual needs, managing complex conditions like ACL injuries and osteoarthritis. Throughout these placements, I’ve benefited from strong mentorship, which has been invaluable in helping me refine my approach and build confidence in my ability to adapt and respond to the unique needs of both athletes and clients.

Work History

Strength and Conditioning

Box Hill Senior Secondary College
Melbourne, VIC

During this placement, I gained valuable experience in delivering tailored strength and conditioning programs for elite youth basketball athletes. I learned to apply data-driven training methods, including velocity-based training (VBT). Collaborating closely with coaches and staff, I gained insights into integrating performance data into training interventions and adapting programs to meet the evolving needs of athletes in high-performance environments.

  • Delivered individualized strength and conditioning programs to elite youth basketball athletes, optimizing movement quality, strength development, and performance readiness.
  • Led comprehensive fitness testing and performance assessments, analyzing velocity, agility, and biomechanical data to guide data-driven training interventions.
  • Applied velocity-based training (VBT) protocols utilize Flex and GymAware systems to maximize strength, power, and athletic performance outcomes.
  • Designed and implemented sport-specific warm-up and mobility routines, integrating athlete readiness, fatigue monitoring, and performance demand assessments.
  • Developed and executed injury prevention programs, with a focus on isometric and anti-rotation exercises to enhance core stability and reduce risk of injury in high-performance environments.
  • Supported tactical development by leveraging performance data and video analysis to create strategic insights that connect physical metrics with on-court effectiveness.
  • Managed and analyzed comprehensive athlete data (e.g., movement efficiency, shooting accuracy), providing actionable insights for coaching staff to inform targeted training and player development.
  • Collaborated closely with coaching staff, translating testing outcomes into practical, sport-specific development strategies.
  • Demonstrated adaptability in high-pressure settings, adjusting programs and strategies in response to evolving athlete needs, injuries, and session modifications.

Exercise Scientist

Kieser
Melbourne, VIC

This placement provided me with hands-on experience in managing complex cases, applying theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, and utilizing a client-centered approach to improve strength, mobility, and overall well-being. My ability to adapt training methods to individual capabilities, manage multiple conditions simultaneously, and track recovery progress allowed me to deliver targeted, effective rehabilitation.

  • Designed and implemented individualized rehabilitation protocols for clients recovering from a range of conditions, including shoulder dislocations, ACL injuries, hip replacements, and osteoarthritis, ensuring that each program adhered to evidence-based principles for long-term recovery.
  • Applied advanced training techniques, such as eccentric contractions, visual feedback, and controlled tempo movements, to enhance muscle activation and recovery. I monitored form closely to prevent compensatory movement patterns, ensuring that the client’s recovery was not only effective, but also safe.
  • Led the development of specific corrective exercise strategies to improve joint stability and muscle balance, particularly for clients with complex musculoskeletal conditions, like chronic back pain, sciatica, and knee instability. Special attention was given to managing load, intensity, and progression to optimize recovery without exacerbating symptoms.
  • Fostered client understanding of their rehabilitation process by using visual feedback and simplified instruction, especially for clients with learning barriers, or those requiring more time to process cues. This approach led to marked improvements in their exercise technique and overall progression.
  • Closely tracked client progress through detailed assessment and feedback, making necessary adjustments to ensure a progressive overload approach while prioritizing injury prevention. Worked collaboratively with physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to optimize client outcomes.

  • Conducted initial assessments of injured players, including on-field evaluations to accurately determine injury severity. Collaborated with the teams Osteopath to develop initial treatment plan, ensuring prompt and effective management of player injuries.
  • Provided immediate on-field first aid and emergency response, swiftly addressing acute injuries and prioritizing player safety in high-pressure situations.
  • Worked closely with the team’s osteopath to optimize players' strength, speed, agility, and endurance through targeted conditioning programs, contributing to improved athletic performance and injury prevention.
  • Fostered strong, open communication with players, coaches, and medical staff. Ensured that injury details, treatment progress, and recovery timelines were effectively conveyed to all relevant parties, helping to create a unified approach to player care.
  • Delivered on-field support during matches, assisting with player hydration, managing injury concerns, and adapting to the fast-paced, dynamic environment of game day to ensure the team's readiness and safety.
  • Applied taping and strapping techniques to support athletes and reduce the risk of injury, ensuring athletes were prepared for both training and competitive play.
