Easing Sydney’s Congestion Program Office (ESCPO): Major project capital expenditure on state’s Road, Freight and Maritime infrastructure (AUD $8B)
The Macquarie Park Bus Priority and Capacity Improvement, Stage 1 project was commissioned as part of the Bus Priority Infrastructure Program within the ESCPO to upgrade four different intersections within the Macquarie Park precinct to improve efficiency, travel times and increase frequency for buses within this road corridor. This project was done in coordination with the scheduled Sydney Metro works between Epping and Chatswood. For the duration of the Sydney Metro works, buses replaced trains along this road corridor and the success of the project was directly attributed to its timely completion.
Some of the significant challenges faced throughout the construction phase in addition to the time constraints were traffic management, staging and interfacing with various project stakeholders. Karthik was an integral part of the construction management team that navigated through the challenges presented and managed the principal contractor on a GC21 contract.
