Communication – well-developed communication skills gained through clinical placements, communicating in-person, over the phone and through patient documentation with interdisciplinary teams, as well as a person-centred approach when communicating with patients, using accurate, relevant, and timely communication that patients and their families understand

Teamwork – Coordinated and collaborated with a multidisciplinary team allowing me to develop my active listening skills, learn how effectively communicate in a group setting whilst being mindful of the contributions of other members and encouraging collaboration

Effective time management – Through WPL I have undertaken a 3-patient load, planning, organising and prioritising patient care, utilising shift planners to ensure I do not miss obs or medications during the shift

Respect and dignity – respectful of individuals cultures and beliefs, whilst adhering to all aspects of confidentially regarding patients, consumers, and staff Ability to show compassion and empathy to all patients, families, and colleagues/staff

Critical thinking – Analyse patients’ situation, utilise knowledge to make the most relevant, safe and timely person-centred decisions based on evidence

Adaptability – Ability to adjust priorities and responsibilities to ensure patients are receiving the care they need

Personal presentation – I take pride in my personal presentation, which is highlighted through all of my workplace placement facilitators stating that I am always on time and well presented in uniform

Use of technology – I have attended placements as a student within various NSW Health facilities where I have been able to effectively use software to maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely documentation, along with utilising technology to complete relevant research to contribute to quality improvement
