Having volunteered and completed teaching practice placements in the Kensington and Chelsea areas, I have gained valuable insights into the stark contrast between extreme wealth and poverty. Working with socially excluded and disadvantaged young people at the Harrow Club has taught me the importance of cultural capital in shaping their perspectives on education and self-worth. These experiences will undoubtedly strengthen my role as a teacher in London. I am dedicated to offering my students new experiences within the classroom, as I firmly believe that firsthand experiences and stimulating learning environments are essential for effective learning. By incorporating cross-curricular links, I personalize learning for each child and create a fun, experimental, and exploratory learning environment through engaging them in creative and interactive activities. I also value child-led learning as a powerful strategy that fosters expression, individuality, and empowerment. Regular assessment allows me to provide extra support, challenges, and make informed judgments for their next steps. Reflecting on my teaching experience, I understand the impact educators have on young lives and the importance of instilling a love for learning. With this understanding, I am committed to equipping my future students with the education they need to thrive in our challenging and ever-growing world.
