Accomplishments

  • I was recently elected as a member of the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body, which represents the interests of the local Indigenous community. The Elected Body represents Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Canberra. The Elected Body also has a unique responsibility as the only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voice to government in Australia.

The role os the Body is to take community based ideas and concerns straight to the changemakers to support change for issues that are important to the local community.

This is done by:

- understanding and representing our communities needs and priorities

- supporting the development of local government policy and services that meet our community’s needs

- advocating for accountability, transparency and effectiveness in achieving social and economic outcomes for our community.
