I was employed by Orange City Council as a Trainee Health and Building Surveyor. and once my course was completed as a Health Surveyor. I stayed in this role and Building Surveyor until December 1993.

I was appointed as Commercial and Emergency Services Manager in 1993 and undertook responsibilities for Orange Sale Yards, Orange Aquatic Centre, Orange Airport, Emergency Management and Bushfire Liaison.

Later the role was expanded to include Building Maintenance and Traffic Administration.
