Short Stay General Medical Unit - Modbury Hospital

• Receive patients from ED and provide patient care for second stage recovery as per clinical protocol. Successfully manage four patient loads.
• Delivery of medication to patients following order, policy, and procedure.
• Provide general nursing care in areas of vital signs, ECG, catheters, feeding tubes, Heparin/Blood transfusion, and IV lines.
• Collaborate with medical interns, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dieticians, and social workers to address patient needs.
• Prepare patients for discharge, including admission, referrals paperwork, education (verbal & written), and discharge checklist.

• Taking care of special patient 1:1 in hospital settings.
• Remaining alert to problems or health issues of clients and competently responded.

Level 5G - Wing 1 Ortho Surgery (OTS) (4 weeks)

• Collaborated with nurse preceptors and other medical staff to achieve quality patient outcome goals.
• Delivered exceptional care to patients by helping with mobility and daily living requirements.

Level 9G - Wing 2 Gen Med (4 weeks)

• Critically demonstrated ability to assist and shadow nurse team leader's role.
• Performed nursing care for each patient according to care plan and physicians' instructions.
• Administered medications via oral, IV and intramuscular injections and monitored responses.

Level 5F - Wing 1 General Surg (4 weeks)

• Managed nursing care from admission to discharge, including patient assessments, care planning, health educations and discharge support.
• Safely conducted wound dressings according to guidelines while performing client health assessment.

Medical Short Stay Ward (6 weeks)

• Completed medical facility experience while under supervision of qualified staff.
• Researched different diagnoses to become familiar with presentation and treatment protocols

Rural Aged Care Facilities (4 weeks)

• Coordinated meal and snack deliveries, assisted with feeding and charted intake for review.
• Built rapport with patients and members of patients' support systems
• Worked alongside experienced nursing professionals to learn new procedures.
