RESEARCH CONTEXT: Influencer marketing is an emerging concept and there are relatively underemployed management practices in B2B markets. While there is growing body of research on influencer marketing in general, it is exclusively focused on customer markets, product-centric promotions in social media, and consumer attitudes and behaviours. There is limited insight into the organisational processes and unique characteristics of influencer marketing in B2B markets.
The research project aims to mitigate the visible research gap and do further research into the influencer marketing strategies in B2B context. It will also focus on testing the performance implications of B2B influencer marketing strategies and an ethnographic case study to explore the social, cultural, and psychological factors that can drive or hinder the adoption of influencer marketing in an organisation and particularly among internal employees who act as internal influencers
