I pride myself on my professional attitude, high attention to detail and quality control, problem-solving, ability to work and lead in a team environment and my commitment to deadlines. I have a vast knowledge on the do's and dont's, the in's and outs of the trade and own a lot of my own hand and power tools to get the job done, aswell as many years of experience using various edgebanders, panel saws and CNC's. I also have previous managerial experience leading a team of 10+ people in and hands-on role, contributing to many new home builds for Henley and Carlisle. I have also been involved in the manufacture of joinery for big business' such as Village Cinemas, Starbucks and Cotton On.
After needing a change in atmosphere after becoming a father in 2023, I returned to Proscope to focus solely on the work I produce and to rediscover a work/life balance that is practical for my family as well as the need to further refine my personal hands on skills. Duties have largely remained the same as previous employment here.
I returned to AS&N for an opportunity I saw to further myself in a managerial position which eventuated into me becoming the Floor Manager, right hand man to a long term Factory Manager who had been with the business 25+ years. The role was still very hands on but amongst my new duties I was in charge of the 6-8 workers in knockup, 1 in benchtops and 3 running the CNC and edgebanders, which saw me monitor each employees performance to discover their strengths and weakness', corrected problems which arose, attempt to increase efficiency to achieve the productivity targets aswell as building a friendly, supportive work culture so that others actually want to come to work and feel appreciated in their day-to-day roles.
Moved to a shopfitting business as I wanted to learn more aspects of the trade and the different methods applied to reach a goal. Worked solely on a bench knocking up whatever was necessary to get the job done, be it MDF Plinths or whiteboard joinery. Duties included running the KDT CNC and Edgebander, cutting anything required on the Altendorf Panel Saw, sanding a polishing of Corian Solid-Surface Benchtops
In my time there, Im most proud of my involvment in the construction of Village Cinemas Knox City Candy Bar and e-ticket machines, aswell as the adjoining Roc's Social Bar. Also various other shops including Forever New, Godfreys, IKEA to name a few.
Completed my apprenticeship with the business. Duties at the time included knocking up and fitting off cupboards and running the edgebanders before moving to the benchtop section, which involved laminating and preparation of stone templates as well as their substrates. I was also taught how to run the 2 Holzma CNC machines.
Started and finished my VCAL School Based Apprenticeship and moved onto my Certificate III learning but had to move on when the company went under
