  • Leadership qualities demonstrated in supervising functions provided by Sterilisation Technicians and Trainees (Grades 1 and 2) and in sharing high level understanding of sterilisation processes and procedures. Ensure all team members are performing activities that comply with the department’s current policies and procedures. Contribute to a productive and effective team environment.
  • Collaborating with the Operating Theatre Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to ensure that the five theatres continue to run effectively and to ensure ongoing availability of equipment and resources to meet demands. Negotiate regarding damaged equipment, loan instruments and issues that arise. Apply problem solving skills, and proven skills in planning and prioritisation of tasks and management of emergencies.
  • Communicating with the CSD team regarding “priority” equipment required by the operating theatre. On a daily basis, discuss issues with the manager regarding staff, machinery or workflow, contributing ideas and feedback to assist in problem solving and resolution of issues.
    • Communicating, negotiating and interacting with a broad range of internal and external customers to ensure CSD services continually meet Hospital and Departmental requirements. Examples of customers include (but is not limited to) colleagues of Orange Base Hospital, doctors, nurses, and wards people. Communicate also with representatives from Dudley Private Hospital, Bloomfield Medical Group, Bathurst and Cowra Health Services, external surgeries such as dental surgeries and salons, as well as businesses. Methods of communication include face to face, electronic (email), telephone and written advice.
  • Demonstrating competence in applying computer skills relevant to the role including Outlook applications, Word and Excel. Use technology including STERRAD systems, sterilisers, Soluscope Endoscope Reprocessors and batch washers.
  • Offering a high degree of flexibility in performing any other responsibilities, as directed by the CSD supervisor or manager.
