The main responsibilities as Residential Manager included stabilising the leadership of the facility after a long period of instability

  • Ensuring maximum ANACC funding for residents and early recognition of need for increases with the Clinical team
  • Ensuring training needs were identified and completed
  • Monitoring budgets, identifying discrepencies and defecits with a plan for corective actions
  • Ensuring Visa’s and police clearances were followed up and rosters were completed with appropriate staff
  • Fortnightly Care minute meetings with follow up on identified defecits or over staffing, with roster changes made to accommodate findings
  • Monthly Proda submissions for Medicare payments
  • Performance management including appraisals were completed at Management level for all staff as RNs had not been trained at that time
  • Ensuring the meeting schedule was maintained to include Residents and Relative meetings, staff meetings, Catering and Therapy meetings to ensure continuous improvement was identified and documented
  • Oversight of the Palliative Care Project which ran over 2 sites which included the introduction of PACOP assessments, telehealth and Vision flex carts for ease of online consults
  • Oversite, from November 2023, of the 15 Transitional Care Placements beds introduced to Hayloft with the new Reablement model
  • This included checking or new residents and their suitability, overseeing new staff and their specific training and ensuring that all staff embraced the change as the new program was introduced
  • Monitoring TCP residents for smooth transition into residential beds across the company or transitioning home with the assistance of the Community Allied health team and Social Worker
  • At present there are 100 residents and 179 staff employed specifically at Hayloft

  • I was asked to assist on a part-time basis as a Care Coordinator to help bring The Italian Village out of sanction, along with the new Director of Nursing.

  • Continued to work part-time as a Care Coordinator to assist the facility in transitioning to the new standards and to accreditation.
  • This was successful, and a year’s accreditation was achieved in September 2019.
  • Assisted with the transition of a new FM and Care Coordinator in May 2020, before leaving to achieve a family balance.
  • During this time, the facility upgraded to a new version of ICare and archived every care plan.
  • All care plans had to be redone from scratch in one month, ready for accreditation, and to ensure staff were aware of care needs.
