Since completing my Bachelor of Paramedicine in November 2023 at USC, I secured a position as a Rescue Paramedic in the mining sector. Over nearly 12 months as a Graduate Paramedic, I've handled medical emergencies autonomously in central Queensland's most remote areas. My commitment and sound judgment in high-pressure situations have laid a strong foundation for my professional growth and boosted my confidence, prompting my application to QAS. In this period, I've honed multiple skills in patient assessment and care. As a naturally detail-oriented and compassionate individual, I communicate effectively with diverse groups.
My tenure in the mining sector has enriched my knowledge in testing, maintaining, and operating medical and rescue equipment, complemented by weekly skill training sessions.
At 47, I'm an energetic, positive mother of three sons, driven by a lifelong aspiration to contribute to emergency and pre-hospital care, serving people and my community. My varied and challenging life experiences provide a rich reservoir of knowledge to draw upon when needed. I am dedicated to delivering patient-centric care and treatment.
I excel in problem-solving and collaboration, uphold a strong commitment to quality and success, and above all, I am a people person who finds immense satisfaction in my role as a Paramedic.

• As a Rescue Paramedic for ER24 since November 2023, I provide pre-hospital care and safety solutions within the mining and resources sector. My role requires a robust knowledge and confidence in medical practices and procedures. The ability to remain calm under pressure and work independently is crucial. Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential, as is the ability to enlist the help of bystanders in delivering patient care. I have developed proficiency in using medical and rescue equipment. My responsibilities include accurately recording and storing patient reports in compliance with legal requirements, conducting daily audits of Schedule 8 drugs, and maintaining safe practices with all medications while recording their usage. Additionally, I keep meticulous records of my professional training and courses, logging hours for registration purposes. A high level of fitness is necessary to perform in extreme weather conditions. I have completed rescue training and other required certifications and have experience working 13-hour shifts.

• As the Director, Business Owner, and Operator of a large surf shop named Beach General Avalon, I managed two locations in Northern Beaches SYD, NSW, and Caloundra QLD from March 2015 to January 2020. I hired and led a team of 20 employees to meet daily and strategic operational and business objectives. I supervised daily operations across both sites to enhance profitability, directed staff, and oversaw stock and ordering processes. I forged partnerships with brands to foster business growth, assisted customers with product inquiries, selections, and transactions, and supported them in completing purchases, finding items, and enrolling in rewards programs.

• Facility Manager at Hanrob Pet Hotels, Sydney, NSW, from 06/2011 to 08/2013. Managed a large pet resort, supervising a staff of 15 in daily operations. Led the team in facility management and pet care, conducted daily inspections, and oversaw financial operations, making recommendations to meet or exceed budgetary goals. Demonstrated respect, friendliness, and a willingness to assist as needed. Worked flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• As a Head Veterinary Nurse at Allambie Vet Clinic in Allambie Heights, NSW, from September 2002 to September 2005, I triaged incoming patients to assess their treatment needs and care urgency. I processed new patients and updated client records with essential information using software systems and encrypted databases. I collected biopsies and blood samples from patients for laboratory analysis and prepared animals for surgery daily by inserting IV cannulas. I administered medications to various animals, documenting any changes in their conditions. I recorded symptoms and medical observations to assist the treating veterinarian in making treatment decisions. I assisted in surgical operations and various medical scenarios, cleaned and disinfected exam areas, surgical equipment, and kennels to prevent disease and control odors. I also prepared surgical instrument packs and drapes, answered owners' questions regarding animal health, and provided advice on best care practices..
