  • Conducting comprehensive urological assessments including history taking, physical examinations and diagnostic skills. Diagnose and treat urological conditions including UIT, prostrate / bladder disorders and erectile dysfunction
  • ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as urinalysis, MSU, ultrasounds, CT scans and Flow rate and bladder scans
  • proficient in assessing, managing and treating any pre or post operative complications to help reduce hospital admissions or GP presentations, such as UTI diagnosis and treatments, blocked catheters, urinary retention
  • administering medication such as s/c or IM injections for hormone therapy, pain management and intravesical treatment for chronic UTI management and bladder cancer
  • Provide patient education on all urological conditions, treatment options and preventative measures. Includes all pre and post operative education, meatal dilation, erectile dysfunction, intermittent catheters, catheters
  • provide direct care to urology patients including all pre and post operative care, catheter care, wound management, hormone therapy, cancer treatment, erectile dysfunction and sexual health. Manage a caseload of 5-20 patients daily which involves a variety of individual care and treatment, patient education, referrals and phone calls
  • Assisting in procedures safely and aseptically that includes setting up and clean up of flexible cystoscopies, Intravesical botox and minor surgical procedures, flow rate and bladder scans
  • monitor patient responses to treatment, make adjustments to and report changes to doctors
  • triage all new referrals ensuring all relevant tests have been completed or order them, adding updated medication and past medical history to the patient electronic health system (genie)
  • collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes are achieved, such as GPS, community nurses and pelvic floor physio
  • implemented, developed and maintaining an extensive nursing manual that includes detailed and thorough nursing policies, as well as comprehensive patient education leaflets and booklets
  • documenting accurate and detailed medical records of all patient intervention and outcomes
  • catheter care and management including both urethral and SPC catheters
