After three years part time on reception, I applied for a Secretary role with Dr Brigid Corrigan in 2014 within WA Plastic Surgery Centre on a part time basis in a jobshare role with another Secretary.

With this role, I gained a strong knowledge of the private health care system, private health insurance and billing for cosmetic procedures.

I have been able to demonstrate a strong patient-focused approach to my role while being proactive and showing initiative and I have been able to show that I am able to adapt to a busy working environment while cooperatively working with colleagues as well as independently.

At the end of 2014, an opportunity within WA Plastic Surgery Centre arose to also join Mr Vijith Vijayasekaran's practice for an additional two days per week. I then worked for Dr Corrigan 2 days and Mr Vijayasekaran for 2 days each week.

I feel working for two very different Plastic and Reconstructive surgeons, whilst challenging, has provided me with a great level of understanding of the specialty and I have thoroughly enjoyed working for both surgeons and I feel I have been an asset to both of their busy practices.

I started with WA Plastic Surgery Centre on reception, meeting and greeting patients, answering the main switchboard, data entry and general reception duties.

During my time on reception, I gained a strong knowledge of terminology of plastic and reconstructive surgery, as well as providing excellent customer service within a busy practice of 6 surgeons. I learnt to work well under pressure and provided excellent communication skills during my time on the front desk.
