Kristy has extensive experience (20 years) in law enforcement including experience as a Police Officer and Police Prosecutor with the NSW Police Force and Solicitor with the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Prosecutor with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency and more recently as a Principal Prosecutor with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. She is experienced in providing high level support and complex legal advice through her role as Legal Advisor to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Internal Affairs as well as Professional Assistant to the Director, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Kristy has conducted hundreds of summary hearings, has run jury trials as well as instructed Senior Counsel in protracted murder trials in the Supreme Court. She has extensive advocacy experience in the local court, District Court, Supreme Court, assisted the Coroner at inquests and has appeared in the Administrative Decisions Tribunal. Obtained a firm understanding of current key policy and related issues throughout the 10 years working for the NSW Police and 9 years working for the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Developed and clearly explained complex concepts and arguments in response to Cabinet Minutes and in the preparation of legislation for Parliament in relation to serious crimes and reviewing of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Guidelines. Worked collaboratively in working parties analyzing and developing legislation pertaining to Sexual Assault Legislation and Forensic Procedure Legislation, prepared a number of articles for the Police News in relation to these working parties.
