  • Created and implemented internal and external policies to comply with the Victims of Crime Charter, as well as ensuring staff had the information and training to comply with the standards.

Previous Placement

Student Placement, Borderlands Co-operative, Melbourne, 2022 MAY, OCTOBER 2022, During my first placement for my social work degree, I got the opportunity to work within a non-direct practice setting at Borderlands Co-operative which has a focus on community development and advocacy. My role on my placement focused on conducting a research project on climate change in the western suburbs of Melbourne with other students also on placement and support from our supervisor. Through my placement I was able to learn about ecological social work and the importance of social workers supporting climate issues. As well, I was able to broaden my research skills of developing a research statement, semi-structured interviews, and collating results.

Volunteer Experience

  • Volunteer, Jockey Club Sarah Roe School, Hong Kong, 2016 JANUARY, JUNE, Teaching assistant in a primary school classroom. JCSRS is a school for students with disabilities ranging from 5-19 years old. I worked with one class and would assist however I was needed day-to-day depending on the schedule. My tasks were to help around in the classroom assisting the teacher, and students with their work. I participated in prep for and going on field trips as a group, helped to prepare class materials by printing and sorting things, as well as making resources on the computer.
  • Volunteer, Jockey Club Sarah Roe School, Hong Kong, 2016 SEPTEMBER, DECEMBER, I pursued another volunteer placement at JCSRS to gain experience in working with kids in their teen years. Similarly, to my first placement I assisted the teacher, other teaching assistant, and students with their work, as well as helping on class field trips. I also supported students through meals and break times.
  • Intern, The Nesbitt Centre, Hong Kong, 2015 SEPTEMBER, DECEMBER, The Nesbitt Center is an English-speaking center for adults with disabilities. The Nesbitt Centre worked with individuals to assist them with independent living skills after finishing secondary school, as well as giving social opportunities for the students. I worked with individuals ranging from 18-52 at the Nesbitt Centre. My role was to assist the students as well as the other teachers with the tasks that were to be done that day. I got to visit the café they had set up for students to work at, as well as assist on field trips. Classes for the students involved work and life skills and the students had the opportunity to receive further qualifications.
