Clinical Duties

1. Patient Care

- Assessing and admitting patients to the hospital.

- Performing initial examinations and taking patient histories.

- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.

- Developing treatment plans in consultation with senior medical staff.

2. Ward Duties

- Conducting ward rounds with senior doctors.

- Monitoring and managing patients' progress.

- Updating medical records and ensuring accurate documentation.

- Communicating with patients and their families about diagnoses, treatments, and prognoses.

3. Emergency Response

- Responding to acutely unwell medical and surgical patients providing safe acute care.

- Participating in after hours rosters, including night shifts and weekend covers

Administrative Duties

4. Medical Documentation

- Writing and updating patient progress notes.

- Preparing discharge summaries and transfer documentation.

- Ensuring proper documentation of all patient interactions and treatments.

5. Coordination and Communication

- Liaising with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, allied health staff, and specialists.

- Coordinating patient care with multidisciplinary teams.

- Referring patients to appropriate specialists or services when necessary.

Professional Development

6. Education and Training

- Teaching and mentoring medical students and interns. Clinical tutor with the University of Adelaide for 3rd year medical students

7. Supervision and Feedback

- Working under the supervision of registrars, consultants, and other senior medical staff.

- Receiving and acting on feedback to improve clinical skills and knowledge.

• Gathered data, critically and carefully analysing data, in-order to diagnose, treat and prevent acute and chronic illnesses in inpatient and outpatient setting
• Provided care to patients in internal medicine weekly continuity clinic, same day walk in clinic as well as subspecialties including neurology, endocrinology and diabetes, cardiology, infectious diseases, pulmonology, nephrology and gastroenterology
• Admitting and caring for inpatients admitted in general wards as well as intensive care unit and those in subspecialties mentioned above
• Perform medical procedures like lumbar punctures, thoracocentesis, paracentesis, central line insertion
• Teaching and mentoring undergraduate medical students
• Preparing and doing presentations in weekly departmental meetings and regional scientific meetings with other trainees
• Interpretation of medical investigations like ABGs, liver function tests, electrolytes and kidney function tests, Endocrine and hormonal profiles, plain X rays, CT scans, pulmonary function tests
• Management of acute medical emergencies in the emergency department
• Attending to medical emergencies in the different hospital departments whilst on call
• Liaising with Allied Health personnel and other support services regarding inpatient and outpatient care
• Attending handover meetings, ward rounds and clinics
• Follow-up of discharged patients in the outpatient clinics.

• Management of general medical, surgical, orthopaedic, paediatric, psychiatric, obstetrics and gynaecology patients
