Work Experience as a Diesel Fitter
Normanton Council
10.2024 - 10.2024
I spent my work experience at the Normanton Council being guided by senior staff, the following are some of the jobs I completed:
- assisted in servicing of cars
- changing shock absorber in the suspension
- called out to a council road site and I helped air compress out the radiator and air filter
- cleaning up the workshop and making sure all tools were put back in the right place
- I changed hydraulic oil hoses, oil, fuel and air filters
- I adhered to the work place health and safety program for the Council ensuring I understood if there was an emergency I knew where to assemble
- My supervisor showed me where to access all the different parts needed to complete a job
- I learnt how to put on and take off a tyre from the rim of a wheel using a machine and levers
- I learnt how different parts of an engine works ie: starter motor, alternator and a turbo etc
- Boosted shop productivity by maintaining a clean, organized work environment and properly utilizing equipment and tools
- Collaborated with team members on complex repair tasks, resulting in improved workflow efficiency.
