Initiating my mining career just days after my 18th birthday in 2012 at Challenger Gold Mine, I underwent a transformative journey—evolving my role from lab work and crushing to leaching and mill operations. This foundational experience, coupled with a hunger for continual learning, led me into sales, where I not only enhanced my social skills but also secured crucial contracts for subsequent career endeavours.
Remaining dedicated until Challenger's closure in 2018, I transitioned to Lucas TCS, specializing in Crushing and Screening. Progressing to a supervisory role, I orchestrated site setups, managed equipment deployments, and successfully led diverse national projects. My responsibilities extended beyond technical aspects to include planning maintenance schedules, coordinating personnel, and fostering a culture of safety through operator training, emphasizing my unwavering stance on safety.
Subsequently sought out by Qcrush, I navigated the complexities of an ongoing project at the McArthur River Lead Mine, emphasizing my ability to tackle technical challenges while prioritizing safety amidst unpredictable weather conditions.
Transitioning to Murray Zircon, I found the change invigorating, continually honing my skills and contributing to the success of the Mercunda project. A cornerstone of my professional philosophy is a strong commitment to safety and the creation of a healthy work culture. Throughout my career, I have championed safety protocols, ensuring that every work environment I inhabit prioritizes the well-being of its team members. I firmly believe that a healthy work culture is the bedrock of success, fostering collaboration, productivity, and individual growth. My proven track record in cultivating such environments, coupled with my leadership and project management expertise, positions me as a seasoned professional ready to make impactful contributions to our team.
During my tenure at Lucas TCS, I thrived in a structured 2-week on, 1-week off schedule, immersing myself in a dynamic work environment that encouraged continuous learning and personal growth. This distinctive rhythm not only allowed me to swiftly adapt to new challenges but also provided me with a unique opportunity to work across the nation, collaborating with both major and minor companies.
Notable highlights of my engagements included valuable experiences at BHP's MT Keith, copper mines Prominent Hill, and Carrapateena in partnership with OZ Minerals. Furthermore, I played a pivotal role in diverse projects such as Axe Head quarry with Holcim, Magill, and Kanmantoo with Hanson. Each project brought forth its own set of distinctive challenges and safety standards, contributing to a rich and varied professional experience.
My employment at Challenger commenced just 10 days after my 18th birthday. I began my journey in the lab and gradually expanded my expertise to cover the entire processing operations on site. This encompassed responsibilities such as operating the Ball mill, maintaining the CIL and PULP tanks, overseeing the fixed crushing plant, and managing the Gold smelting room.
Challenger Gold Mine presented a unique learning experience, particularly in terms of safety and processes. Given the mine's fully manual operations and the absence of a SCADA program, adapting to the challenges of this environment proved instrumental in developing my robust mechanical understanding. The experience equipped me with the ability to think quickly on my feet—a skill set I continue to utilize effectively
