Support Officer - Local Jobs Program
Department of Employment and Workplace Relations
Western Melbourne Employment Region , Victoria
08.2022 - Current
In my role, I have proactively cultivated and nurtured solid, strategic relationships with a network of over 300 local stakeholders. These include employers from various industries, service providers, local councils, schools, community groups, and training organisations. These relationships have been instrumental in fostering collaborations and partnerships that have contributed to the success of various initiatives and programs.
I am dedicated to facilitating job placement by leveraging my expertise to match candidates with suitable positions. Through strategic collaboration with state and federal government employment providers, I have successfully assisted 260 individuals in securing gainful employment opportunities. My personalised approach ensures employers are connected with the right stakeholders, ultimately contributing to long-term success.
As the Local Jobs Support Officer, I manage and facilitate the Western Melbourne Local Jobs Trello Board, a vital platform for organising and promoting local employment opportunities. This includes coordinating and overseeing various events to foster the region's job growth and economic development. Additionally, I am responsible for curating and analysing region-specific data to ensure that the board remains a valuable resource for all steakholders. Furthermore, my duties extend to providing comprehensive support to users of the Trello board, offering guidance and assistance as needed.
Reporting: One of my key responsibilities involves compiling detailed monthly reports that not only showcase the high level of engagement and activity within the region but also identify areas where additional support or resources may be required. These reports serve as a valuable tool for stakeholders, providing industry insights and highlighting specific service gaps that may need to be addressed. Additionally, I ensure that the reports contain up-to-date, relevant, actionable, granular data and intelligence.
Collaborate with local organisations and stakeholders to address workforce challenges. Design and collaborate on events, workshops, and programs to support the industry, individuals, and the community in gaining or building skills to meet their employment goals. This includes regularly reviewing and aligning the Western Melbourne Local Job Plan. With the insights gained from stakeholders, I have been able to design and run a Women's Networking program, community interview skills, and confidence sessions with two major shopping centres in the region. These sessions included one-on-one sessions on using LinkedIn, LinkedIn photo shoot sessions, and free one-hour individual sessions with a stylist to discuss interview clothing and confidence building. I have supported many activations like these, including employer- and provider-focused events.
In my capacity, I serve as the coordinator for the Western Melbourne Sub-Committee, which comprises 13 dedicated employment providers across the region. Our monthly meetings serve as a platform for collaboration and action aimed at enhancing the Western Melbourne area through valuable insights and impactful initiatives. With my guidance, the Sub-Committee has achieved remarkable milestones, such as successfully organising two job fairs, resulting in 100 individuals collectively securing employment opportunities. Additionally, we have orchestrated multiple clothing and toy drives to support local families in need. Presently, we are actively engaged in developing further activation projects to continue our positive impact on the community.
