• 2024, Holy Spirit School, New Farm, Year 4 Teacher, As a Year 4 teacher at Holy Spirit, my role is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can thrive academically and socially. • 2023, Kelvin Grove State College, Year 3 Teacher, As a Year 3 teacher in Kelvin Grove State College, I was responsible for nurturing and educating young minds during a crucial stage of their academic journey. My days were filled with planning and delivering engaging lessons that align with the Australian curriculum, while also fostering a positive classroom environment that promotes inclusivity and diversity. I strive to create a supportive and inclusive classroom community where students feel safe to express themselves and take risks in their learning. I worked closely with parents and other stakeholders to ensure that each student received the necessary support and guidance to reach their full potential.
• 2021-2022, St Joseph’s Primary School Kangaroo Point & Kelvin Grove State College, Prep Teacher, I provided quality differentiated Australian Curriculum education to students in their first year of school. It was a privilege to support children and their families to become part of their first school community. Parents and Carers are important partners in all year levels, however the need to create lasting, meaningful connections at this early stage of their learning journey is imperative. I firmly believe in ongoing learning and reflective practice, and have found this extremely beneficial during my first year teaching Prep. The children grow so quickly, it is important to establish routines and boundaries to allow them to feel secure and safe in their new environment. This security allows them to take risks with their learning, knowing they are safe to do so.
• 2019, Brighton Primary School, Melbourne, Year 4 Classroom Teacher, As a member of the Year 4 team at BPS, I sought to get to know my colleagues and learners quickly and effectively. Coming into the class at such a pivotal time in the year, after a period of unease was rewarding and challenging. It was paramount to let the children know that I was here for them both in the physical sense and emotional sense as to set them at ease with the changes and challenges that they have faced. Children learn best when they feel safe and supported and this was a priority. Additionally, I enjoyed the immersion into the Inquiry approach to teaching and learning.
• 2019, St Joseph’s Primary School Nundah, Year 3/4 Classroom Teacher, At St Joseph’s we were a team of 3 Year 3/4 classes. We were truly a team in all senses. We planned as a team, and we taught as a team. We planned to a 2-year cycle of learning, ensuring all aspects of the Australian Curriculum were met for our learners over the 2 years they spent in the Year 3/ 4 space. On a daily and weekly basis, we would plan many of our sessions to teach as a team where we would all come together in our shared space and then spend time with learners from all 3 classrooms in targeted teaching groups. I am a collaborative teacher and a team player. I love to foster a warm and caring environment, not only for my students but for my colleagues as well.
• 2018, St Columba’s Primary School, Wilston, Year 2 Classroom Teacher, I was one of four Year 2 teachers at St Columba’s and enjoyed my year teaching there immensely. As a cohort we worked hard to make 2018 a great learning experience for our students. I was engaged in many Professional Development opportunities and had the invaluable experience of teaching a wide variety of learners, both verified and non-verified. The variety and diversity of learners in my class led me to be mindful of the value of reflective practice and preparation, continually reassessing the efficacy of my teaching.
• 2017, Wilston State School, Year 5 Classroom Teacher, As a member of the Year 5 teaching team, I provided high quality Australian Curriculum based lessons informed by both pertinent data and the latest pedagogical research. Our approach, as a team of 4 qualified educators, ensured all students in the cohort moved in the same forward direction. I ensured that the focus of my teaching was based on the Model of Pedagogy guaranteeing that the emphasis remains always on our learners and their learning. My students were provided with clear learning intentions and provided multiple ways to learn and practice their learning, whilst I provided regular quality feedback to direct their learning forward. I continually assessed learning informally, as well as formally, to evaluate the efficacy of my practice to ensure high quality learning.
