Growing up in a small country town in Victoria, hard work has been a trait of mine from an early age, it was work hard to survive. Before making the move to WA I was in the Agriculture industry, first working since childhood on a farm, then moving into a support based role where a new set of skills was acquired. My Machine and customer knowledge has proven to be beneficial in both my technical and operator roles through my career. My communication skills, fast learning and drive to succeed will be proven if given a chance in the workforce, there is nothing im afraid to give a go at and i wish to prove that to you.
When Given the Chance for a full time Bogging gig at Mt. Charlotte i knew that i would fit the role perfectly. As mentioned in previous experence, i learnt to Bog in a Sandvik 621, so when tasked to operate the smaller 517 and CAT 1700, the ability to operate the smaller machines came quite easily. Primarily between loading trucks and transferring dirt, i am bogging my own headings, which currently is 4 Declines and a couple of 7/1 Inclines inside of Levels. All while keeping as tidy as possible, minimizing spillage and windrows as needed. Road-Works are a major part of my daily routine as the water management isn't exactly up to scratch at the moment, this causes the Declines to wash out and creates drains from the water, i have been able to fix these roads easily and quickly in between loading trucks as required. Being that i am the only Big Bogger operator on my crew, i also have to conduct re-bogs when required, this has been quite a challenging skill for me to learn but through some guidance from the operators i have been able to conduct re-bogs to satisfaction quickly and thoroughly.
My Mining Start came to me with NSR resources. I started as everyone does, on a truck. After a short time i was able to progress into the Nipper role, which is where the wealth of my knowledge started. While nippering for 18 short months i was able to gather a lot of skills from my jumbo ops and also spend quite a lot of time learning other roles in mining. While nippering i would spend a day here and there when needed to fill in on service crew, through a lot of overtime shift i was able to fulfill the role easily. After a short time my shiftbosses realized my potential and started to push me into the more senior roles in mining, i was able to spend quite a lot of time charging in between headings or at the end of shifts to gather the experience needed as my jumbo op wasn't willing to let go of me yet. In the last 6 months of my time at NSR my potential was realized and i was given my permit to train on a Bogger. I quite easily picked it up as i have extensive experience on loaders from my farming background. I Learnt to Bog on the Sandvik 621, with justification being that if i can operate the big loader then the smaller ones will be easy, this has proven true over time.
