Lachlan Young

I am a qualified plumber with over 10 years of industry experience across residential, commercial, and domestic plumbing. Throughout my career, I have worked for both small sole traders and large Tier 1 construction companies, giving me a broad range of skills and experience in different working environments.

Over the years, I have developed extensive experience operating a wide variety of machinery. I am competent and confident operating excavators ranging from 1.7-tonne Hyundai machines through to 30-tonne excavators. My excavation experience includes loading truck and dog combinations, bulk earthworks,, digging trenches, driveway removal, rock ripping, jackhammering, site clean-ups, final trim work, and general excavation for civil and plumbing projects.

I also have experience operating rollers ranging from small walk-behind and open-cab models through to large enclosed-cab rollers, as well as 11-tonne front-end dumpers, skid steers (Bobcats), loaders, and other civil construction equipment. I work safely, efficiently, and adapt quickly to different job sites and project requirements.

I gained approximately one year of experience working alongside an experienced painter, where I developed skills in surface preparation, patching, sanding, masking, cutting in, rolling, brushing, and achieving high-quality finishes.

Using the skills I developed, I independently completed the full interior repaint of my grandmother's home to a professional standard. Photographs of the completed work can be supplied upon request as evidence of the quality of my workmanship.

DPY Enterprises was my father's construction company, where I began my career in the trades. Working alongside my father, brother, and a small team, I learnt all aspects of plumbing, gained experience in carpentry, and developed the foundations of my machine operating skills. Together, we were involved in the construction of numerous residential homes and warehouse projects, giving me valuable hands-on experience across multiple areas of the building industry.

My experience ranged from jackhammering and excavating a 25 m × 25 m area to a depth of approximately 4 metres with a 5 ton Yanmar machine to construct an underground garage (can supply proof), through to Dincel wall installations, wall framing, and completing plumbing installations on homes from a young age. This hands-on environment taught me to adapt quickly, solve problems on site, and take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship across every stage of construction.
