OVERVIEW OF THOMPSON INSTITUTE
The Thompson Institute is developing into a world-class facility for mental health and neurological research, teaching and associated clinical services. The Institute will enable UniSC to make a major contribution to the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the brain and mind and be at the forefront of vital research in the areas of ageing and dementia and mental health issues relating to youth and adults alike.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION
1. To assist with participant recruitment for the sleep health service delivery in the North West Queensland region.
2. Provide high level administrative and communication support for research including recruitment, data collection and collation, participant enquiries and effective triage of stakeholder communications.
3. Support community sleep health improvement activities and service delivery.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
Under the general direction of the Program Manager the Community Research Assistant provides support in the administration and coordination of participant recruitment and administrative activities required for conducting the Let’s Yarn About Sleep (LYAS) initiative regionally in Queensland. As the first point of contact for the LYAS initiative in the region, this role has specific responsibility for providing high quality reception, administration support and customer service to participants, staff, students, clients and visitors, analysing enquiries and requests from stakeholders, taking appropriate action including redirecting as well as providing guidance and proactive support.
KEY ACCOUNTABILTIES OF THE POSITION
1. Assisting with participant recruitment, including screening potential participants over the phone, booking and scheduling of participant visits.
2. Responding to participant enquires and monitoring participants throughout the study.
3. Supporting community sleep health improvement activities and service delivery.
4. Maintaining relevant, study databases, including data entry, ensuring data integrity and quality control.
5. Managing the administration of project meetings including scheduling and preparing and distributing minutes of the meetings.
6. Other administrative assistance as required.
