Now to get into details about my experience with horses,
i started riding before i learnt to walk and talk, though out my years in the horse industry i have competed on state levels in a few different disciplines such as mounted games, cross country, polo cross, campdrafting and rodeoing for majority of my life, i have also been breaking training and re educating horses since i was about 12 or 13 years old, i have a high patience for horses, and i have prided my self on my gentle but firm hand in my horse career i have turned out some absolute cracker horses from non other then our favourite breed the througherbread, these horses are under valued in the horse comunity and i had made it my own little mission to prove to people around me just how versitile these horses are one of my best allrounders who is now happliy retiered in a paddock, is a tb and she was if not the best very close to the best horses on the circut at the time of us competing, she carried me for years and years of some of the best competing i have ever had in my life, so although i have not directly worked in a racing stable since i was a young teen my experience with horses is to much to put into words its something that i will always continuously be learning from because its an industry where no 2 days are the same and there absolutely always something to learn, i will always take in advice knowledge that is given to me because to me i will never stop learning about them, i have worked with ottbs a lot i take in a couple every now and then and re educate them for new homes so they can have just as good of a life after racing as they do while they are racing, and i love seeing them do what they where bred to do, i have studied and completed my animal welfare course through tafe qld and am more then happy to take on any other licenses and courses involved with the job, please note i don't see this work as a job its my ordinary life so when this position came up i was very excited to get in touch as its something i love and am very passionate about.
my job as a leading hand at the meat works in cannon hill was my first job in a leader ship roll, i learnt a lot, i have a huge respect for my team members and employees, i unfortunately did not make it past my probationary period in this position but it was not due to my own doings i was not supported or backed up by other staff nor was i ever taught how to do my job i was thrown in the deep end unfortunately i just didn't meet there standards, i will attach both my supervisors and area managers numbers for references as they will confirm this, in the short time i was running the team i learnt a lot about time management the importance of thinking on your feet and that i work very well under pressure, i hold my head high and i believe i did the absolute best i possibly could in a bad situation, my team members are also happy to go down as character references to tell you what i am like as there leader, my team become my little family supplying them with once a month group dinners and activities to thank them for the hard work and continued efforts they put in every day to keep everything going, setting them up everyday and never thinking im to above anyone to pick up a broom and sweap a floor.
as a customer service representative at furneys in toowoomba my day to day rolls consisted of working in a small tight nit team of 3 people, my roll was to provide advice and provide factual information to customers and clients,it was also my roll to order stock from producers and vendors as well as our own mill that was based in dubbo nsw, invoicing phone calls booking trucks for freight was all also apart of my day to day, working with mainly general public we also serviced our nutrition plans to local racing stables working closely with them to achieve the best out come for our customers, the smaller but just as important details of my job where to carry out stock take make sure that everything was kept clean tidy and appealing to the customer eye.
my job on the 60 thousand acre cattle station was to carry out daily tasks such as fencing, mustering on both horses and bikes, to feed yarded animals, weaner training, lick runs
water runs, checking animals on a daily basis to check for any animal welfare concerns, sickness or diseases, branding and marking cattle and sheep, loading trucks the list goes on
