Latrell Teka

Since the age of 13 my passion and love for the game of basketball has moulded me into the person i am today. Coming from a pretty rough background, my obsession for the game gave me the outlet i needed in life. Through the years i learnt a lot about leadership and have always had a passion for giving back. This has been expressed in the years of coaching i've done. Starting my first year of high school, i returned to coach my primary school team, then when i left high school i returned to coach my high school Senior A men's team for 2 years. Throughout these years i also assisted in coaching a development academy "Bankshot academy" with NZ great Willie Banks. This was the beginning of my realisation for my passion in giving back and helping others. Since then i have worked in youth work/mentoring roles giving me experience working with some of New Zealand's top youth offenders. This experience has taught me how to be professional while being able/open to connect with anyone around me.
