As the Safety Coordinator, I lead a team of expert safety professionals dedicated to providing advisory services that effectively manage operational, legal, and regulatory risks, fulfilling governance oversight responsibility for the business. As a Police Sergeant/Manager with more than 12-years’ experience, my responsibilities were extremely varied and included conducting complex investigations relating to criminal offences, providing leadership and management to ensure the effective performance of policing sub-districts for which I was in command, developing and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships to improve community safety and facilitating the development of junior staff. Whilst progressing through the ranks, I held numerous different positions, and led a litany of high-class investigations, personifying leadership, diligence, and professionalism.   • Conducted comprehensive, analytical investigations into various offences, formulating and executing operational strategies, adhering to legislative standards, investigative methodologies and evidentiary standards

Accomplishments

  • Project management: In my previous position with AHPRA; conducted review of high-risk activities and identified significant shortcomings and associated risks. Rapidly developed strategy to contain risk, mindful of fiscal responsibility, legislative requirements, and public scrutiny. Presented solution to National Executive and external stakeholders such as Medical Board of Australia. Implemented proposed strategy, developing and fostering working relationships with relevant stakeholders. My vision was realised with the implementation of a national taskforce, inclusive of internal investigation teams, pro-active audit unit, establishment of dedicated Board, ongoing secondment of forensic services from KPMG and legal assistance from Minter Ellison law firm. Subsequently manage taskforce progressing priority high-risk actions in a timely manner.
  • Leadership: Successfully managed metropolitan police station comprised of 7 multi-discipline teams and 80 staff. Drove strategic direction of the business and developed action plans in support of priorities. Conducted governance activities in line with expectations and created value for stakeholders. Chaired several committees, including Local Emergency Management Committees in regional communities in which I developed inter-agency responses to disasters. Strategies tested theoretically and in field exercise and later deployed operationally. Led regional communities through bush fire and cyclone events.
  • Change management: Provided strong leadership to 80 staff during testing and implementation of digital policing transformation project. Identified operational, strategic and reputational risk and developed solutions to mitigate same. Acted as conduit between end users and resource developers. Provided training and learning opportunities to staff at all levels to ensure effective transition and continuance of business activities.
  • Problem Solving: Identified system limitations and associated risk. With approval from National Director, developed working relationship with KPMG forensic experts. Presented problems and sought input to find solutions. Co-developed a tailored multi-user evidence management and review platform. Lead testing of platform, designed, developed, and delivered training package. System successfully implemented and adopted widely within AHPRA.
  • Mentorship: Successfully developed staff in past and current positions, to achieve personal goals, be they development towards expert areas or to gain promotion by providing mentorship and leader development opportunities.
