In this position I am responsible for the planning and delivery of community services education and training across multiple campuses. This responsibility includes managing budgets, assets and community engagement. I am also responsible for leading the teaching team, to deliver training and education that reflects industry standards, and meets compliance requirements.

My achievements in this role have included:

A review and reduction in PTCT costs and focus on balanced teaching programs

Collaboration with community stakeholders including local Indigenous Community service organisations. This resulted in commercial delivery opportunities.

NNR training with local council Youth Hub staff to improve skills in de-escalating challenging behaviours.

NNR training delivered to disability service support workers regarding maintaining professional boundaries in their role

A focus on campus vibrancy – the introduction of more face-to-face delivery post COVID.

The recruitment of 2 permanent teachers with current industry experience.

R/ Team Leader- Health

Working in the role of Team Leader across a large are of the Central and Far West of NSW has been an extremely rewarding role in which I have been able to lead, support and collaborate with Nursing and Health delivery teams.

My achievements in this role have included

A review of First Aid delivery across the West region with a focus on course viability and student experience

The support and mentoring of several new and R/HT across the region which has seen growth and development in their leadership ability.

Working with both the dispute resolution team and delivery staff to resolve workplace concerns, was a positive experience for both parties and the section.

Maintaining a consistent approach to performance management and working with HT to set clear expectations of the delivery team.

Regular monitoring and consideration of TPD completion, IDP status, mandatory training and teaching compliance.

Sharing information and supporting staff during the announcement of the new OM for TAFENSW- valuing the work sections continue to carry out, while encouraging optimism for what lies ahead.

  • In this teaching position I am responsible for the delivery of quality training, education and assessment to all qualifications within the Health Training Package.

  • A number of commercial offerings including Workplace Resilience and Medication Administration.
  • I have vast experience developing and delivering lesson plans that reflect training package requirements while embedding best practice and current industry standards.
  • I currently am responsible for the co-ordination of several areas of our program including clinical placement for students. This involves booking, managing and allocation of clinical spots through 3 area health services in NSW. This requires sound time management and clear communication with all facilities across area health services.
  • Within this clinical coordination role I meet with clinical facilitators and clinical staff regularly to discuss feedback from both students and clinical staff. I have strong professional relationships with NSW Health staff and ensure feedback is actioned in a positive manner to improve student experience.
  • I currently am the course coordinator for the TVET Human Services courses across Bathurst and Lithgow. This involves working with students from several local High Schools who undertake a CERT III course while undertaking this HSC. This NESA Board endorsed course requires communication with schools, parents and compliance officers to ensure students meet HSC requirements.
  • During my employment with TAFE NSW I have been the relieving Head Teacher on a number of occasions. These opportunities have included both short term and long term periods. This position requires the co-ordination of day to day activities in the section and working with other members of the Regional Leadership Team to deliver training and education that meets not only scope of delivery but also financial benchmarks.

Registered Nurse- COVID Care in the Community/ Remote Home Monitoring

  • This position was part of the Western Local Health District response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a RN I work within a team of health professionals to assess the needs of patients testing positive to COVID and currently isolating.
  • Primarily my role as a RN is completing daily assessments of patients including both physical and social assessments. This requires sound clinical knowledge of general health assessment and the impact COVID can have on patients with pre-existing conditions. Assessment occurs across the life cycle including pregnant women, infants, children adults and the elderly.
  • As a result of my clinical assessment patients are referred to doctors, social workers etc that are part of the COVID Care in the Community team. This role requires sound clinical knowledge and clear non-judgmental communication with patients as they deal with both the physical and social impact that COVID has on our community.
  • My ability to follow changing guidelines as the pandemic developed is an example of my ability to work flexibility and keep up to date with changes to policy and procedure. The COVID team were all working across the region and so connection with the team remotely was essential to ensure accurate clinical handover and staff education.
  • This role has also included home monitoring – this includes monitoring vital signs/ documentation and patient education. I have strong IT skills and knowledge and am organized in my workload and document appropriately.

  • My 25-year employment at Bathurst Health service has included delivery of patient care in a number of clinical areas.
  • I have experience in both medical/ surgical and peri-op care. This included being a senior member of the nursing team and regularly in –charge of shift.
  • During 2008-2009 I was successful in gaining a position as a Clinical Nurse Educator- Medical/Surgical. I supported student nurses, new career nurses and experienced staff in the delivery of safe, best practice principles. This role established my passion for nurse education. I maintain professional, supportive relationships with nursing staff and am inclusive of workplace diversity.
  • For approximately 12 years I have worked in the Ambulatory Care unit at Bathurst Hospital. This area of health care is one of the fastest growing areas in healthcare and includes community and hospital in the home care. Working in this area includes admin of medications by all routes, pain management, wound assessment and management, clinical assessment and review of post-surgical patients. The unit also included the transit lounge which monitors and ensures the safe discharge of patients from ward beds.

I gained experience across medical/surgical/rehab/peri-op/oncology and long-term care. This was a supported program, which integrated both clinical and formal education. This program supported both clinical skill consolidation and decision-making.
