My time at Boral Asphalt in Cairns is where I gained the majority of my Asphalt Industry experience. There I became qualified in operating all mobile plant and machinery used in the Asphalt Industry. That includes the front end loader, tractor, rollers both multi tyred and small steel and the skid steer/ bobcat as well as the paver machine.which Boral had regular usage of 2 the smaller one 3.5m and a larger paver that extends past 6.5 m. We often traveled away from Cairns to do spray seal in the Cape York area on the Peninsula Development Road where we as a crew rotated in operating the multi tyred rollers. Boral as a company regularly committed employees to consistent training and development on safety procedures and the relevant requirements for interaction with other business entities such as Qld Rail and Ergon Energy or power grid suppliers. Also we frequently were contracted to Civil Construction companies in the upgrade of the Bruce Highway. We would also engage with the Cairns City Council to pave streets and roads under their jurisdiction.
