Leonie Fullerton

I have taught at Gaven State School for 9 years. During this time I have worked in lower primary and middle primary classrooms in a permanent full-time and part-time capacity.

Grade 1 from 2015 - 2019 (full time)

Grades 3 and 4 - 2020 (part time)

• I strive to make a positive difference for each and every child, each and every day.
• I have been committed to improving student's learning outcomes by providing students with authentic descriptive feedback.
• I have been involved with Case Management Meetings (CIT's) to support my student's writing development.
• I have been involved in Data Dives to help identify areas of improvement needed in reading and writing.
• I have implemented effective pedagogical practices through Teach like a Champion.
• I have aimed to take a whole school approach to reading instruction in my classroom.
• I have incorporated the Gaven Spelling Program into my teaching.
• I mentor pre-service teachers and beginning teachers.

From 2000 to 2014 I had the opportunity to teach all year levels from years 1-7, at Bellevue Park State School. This was a wonderful chance to learn and enhance my skills as a teacher.

Throughout this time at Bellevue Park I taught for many years in a multi-age classroom, comprising of up to 50 students with one teaching partner. Here I learnt the importance of communication and collaborative teaching.

I supervised many Pre-Service teachers throughout my time at Bellevue. I felt it an important opportunity to share my knowledge and help prepare them for their role as future educators.

After 14 years at Bellevue, I felt it was time for a change and I was transferred to Gaven State School.
