• Providing holistic care to the elderly within my scope of practice
• Assisting residents with there personal care needs. such as showering, toileting, shaving, oral hygiene, dressing and eating. when providing as an overnight PSW its monitoring there continence aids and changing them appropriately with there consent.
• assisting residents with there mobility and communication
• Following care plans to assist those with dementia and behavioral problems
• Observing and reporting changing in residents condition to the registered nurse and or care manager
• Documenting and maintaining accurate and detailed resident records within my scope of practice
• Building affective relations with residents through clear communication and empathy.
• Maintaining regular training to keep up to date with the work place safety and aged care policies.

I was an assistant in nursing on ward 3 & 4 (surgical & medical ward) Which involved looking after patients that had just come back from theatre and assisting them in there recovery and assisting them with daily living activities which involved assisting them with showering, toileting and even assisting them to walk. I demonstrated basic nursing care such as overserving any changes in the patients recovery and working alongside a medical team to make sure that the patient was receiving the best quality of care to help the patients with there recovery.

My position varied depending on what was required for that day but it included serving customers, restocking shelves, cleaning, stock take and doing some of the big orders for the store. I started off as a junior which involved serving customers and cleaning then i progressed into a senior and i was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to do some of the orders for the store and got to help out with the management side of it which included doing the banking and invoices etc.

I was also in charge of rostering for all staff members.
