Volunteer Junior Boys Basketball Coach
Basin Wildcats Basketball Club
01.2021 - 01.2024
I coached brother's basketball team from Under 12- Under 14 - 3 seasons
My teams consisted of 7-8 boys each seasons, and included several neurodiverse boys each season, including my younger brother
My role required me to run a training session each week which I planned skills training, plays and team play
I needed to plan this into an hour session and keep the boys engaged and having fun while mentoring them and interacting with parents and guardians
I also coached the boys each game day, which required me to organise player subs, time-outs and on the spot adjustments to plays, keeping the boys motivated through out the game even if they were losing
I was required to liaise with the referees, scorers and other team coaches
I also attended meetings with club managers, other club coaches and team managers to discuss different training methods, skills and at the end of each season, the formation of the next seasons teams and player development
I am proud to say that two of the teams I coached made it to finals
