  • I was an active participant in many of the focus groups within Baptistcare & was able to initiate a memory support group to further enable residents with cognitive difficulties and to support staff
  • The aim of the memory support group was to restore function and enhance potential of those residents with a memory loss by focusing on task breakdown and sequencing, with cueing support as needed
  • The focus group assists staff and volunteers in their caring role by offering support, tools and hands on guidance
  • In July 2015 I was privileged to accept a fellowship with La Trobe University to establish a better response to behavioural and psychological symptoms of Dementia (BPSD)
  • The project’s purpose was to engage residents with dementia in life & living with a focus on creating an environment that is full of meaning and purpose using the Montessori Method
  • Following successful completion of the project I published an article in Australian Journal of Dementia Care, Vol 6 April/May 2017, ‘Creating a world with meaning and purpose’.
