I have always enjoying doing bar work and would often step in to assist when I worked for the Cascade Hotel Group when I was their Training/Relief Officer
Commenced as an Accounts Clerk for which each Cascade employee would be responsible for various hotel site books - I managed 3 hotels in Qld/NSW. Cascade Hotels Group took over the ownership of the Tooheys hotels.
After a few years I was promoted to the Training/Relief Officer for all the 52 Cascade Hotels in Queensland and NSW. I would travel to each hotel to train the administration staff on the requirements of hotel paperwork management - accounts, payroll, etc. I even assisted with the writing up of all procedures in running a hotel.
As I had previously done bar work, I would assist the hotel bar staff to run the bars on numerous occasions. Serving hotel customers was very rewarding.
I worked various shifts mainly on the weekends, or when I was required.
Originally I worked as a glassie, then was offered a position of bartender, where I would work mainly Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights
