- In my current role as Food attendant & All Rounder in a busy Melbourne CBD café, I interact with many people from many different demographics. Each day can vary from filling large numbers of catering orders to serving large groups of people during busy breakfast and lunchtime periods. I enjoy the challenge of ensuring that customers have a positive interaction each time they visit the café and work quickly and efficiently to ensure that wait times are kept to a minimum. My day-to-day tasks include preparing food, serving customers, financial transactions (both cash and Eftpos), cleaning and packing. During my time in this role, I have learnt the importance of planning ahead to prepare and set up for the upcoming days as well as the busy periods of the day.

- In this role I worked in a busy shopping center and was responsible for opening and closing the store, cleaning, welcoming people, cold approaching customers, facilitating product demonstrations, providing product info to customers and identifying how the product could add benefit to the customer’s life. Each day required me to multitask between liaising with customers whilst also managing the shop and ensuring its security was maintained. I regularly followed up customers from previous interactions who showed interest in the products and did this by developing my own marketing list. I was responsible for financial transactions (cash, Eftpos and lay-buy arrangements) as well as maintaining the financial ledger that documented the sales for each day and other reporting documents. This role helped me to develop my skills with approaching customers who had no previous engagement in the product or who had purchased something previously and wanted after sales care.

- As I have an interest in the beauty industry, I enrolled into this beauty course where I learnt the skills required to apply makeup to models, apply bridal makeup, cover up skin blemishes using makeup and theory behind different skin types. I learnt how to customize the makeup style based on the individuals skin type and desired look. The course taught me the importance of consulting with the client and listening to their needs and wants and then applying my skills and knowledge to provide them with their desired look.

- As someone who likes to get out of their comfort zone and take on new challenges, I successfully set up and ran my own small clothing business during the start of the Covid pandemic. I set up a small retail store to display my products as well as a digital store where I sold my items online. I developed many skills and learnt valuable lessons such as researching my niche market, developing and implementing a bespoke business plan, building my own unique brand, choosing and maintaining relationships with wholesale suppliers, developing and implementing a marketing strategy on social media, and the day to day running of a retail store. - In this role I assisted in managing the samples production operations to ensure that schedules and quality standards set out by headquarters and buyers were met and maintained. Product quality standards included features such as the material used, the colour, the sturdiness of the product, the overall form and presentation of the product, etc. I was responsible for overseeing compliance to make sure that the company continued to meet industry standards. I was the contact person responsible for regular communication (in English) with the samples team from Headquarters who were located in Korea. I also translated written digital product instruction manuals, from English to Vietnamese, that outlined how to properly assemble the product samples. It was essential for me to translate these files accurately as they were read by the factory workers (in Vietnamese) who needed to be able to understand and follow the steps to produce a quality product that met the required standards and regulations. My other responsibilities included assisting the manager with clients/buyers during meetings, managing production schedules, monitoring day to day works, keeping projects on track to meet their deadlines, completing paperwork/administrative tasks and ensuring successful shipment of products in accordance with buyers’ expectations.
