Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conducting triage and providing care according to the category and policy.
  • Collection of detailed personal histories, carrying out proper assessments of patients, and acting as a liaison officer between patient and doctor to render quality care.
  • Assess the life-threatening situations, act immediately according to the policy, and utilize critical thinking abilities to provide high standard care outcomes.
  • Provide person-centred care that is high-quality, effective, and efficient while working in a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, their families, and caregivers.
  • IV cannulation and administration of medications
  • Report any suspected abuse to the appropriate agencies.
  • Contribute to quality health care through lifelong learning and professional development, research data generation, clinical supervision, mentoring, coaching, and the development of policy and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Complete documentation on patient care plans, progress reports, and referral practices in accordance with requirements and systematically assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care based on patient records.
  • Records all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms.
  • Act as the after-hours hospital manager and provide appropriate supervision and/or mentoring of staff, including delegation of care to, RNs, ENs and AINs according to their competence and within their scope of practice, and supervision of students on clinical placement.
  • Work within Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia standards of practice and relevant codes that govern Registration.
