Substantive position

• Providing timely and accurate advice on biosecurity matters to stakeholders/clients and team leaders
• Providing on-the-job training and assisting and supporting other employees on biosecurity issues
• Building and sustaining supportive, effective and collaborative relationships
• Actively participating in and contributing to the department’s corporate objectives and supporting change management, including staff and client participation, consultation and cultural change
• Managing goods that do not comply with import/export requirements and capturing information to support evidence-based decisions
• Promoting and complying with departmental WHS and Rehabilitation policies and guidelines and being alert for and reporting risks to team leaders and WHS
• Providing technical, administrative and support to staff
• Reviewing and assessing documentation related to imported goods
• Identify trends in biosecurity risks and escalate these to assist in targeting intelligence and risk-based activities
• Conducting Assessments and Verifications - Initiating compliance action if deemed appropriate
• Issuing directions for Imported Cargo - Issuing biosecurity directions and notices for further assessment, movement, inspection or management of imported goods
• Processing entries in Cargo Workflow Management System (CWMS) and Imports inbox
